Meet The Woman Behind Legal-Ease International – Dena Falken

By The Los Angelers on March 2, 2022

Dena Falken is a lecturer, author, CEO, and a Seminar presenter with Legal-Ease International. She has taken on the world of Seminars with a unique topic and style.

She has a genuine entrepreneurial spirit and is committed to providing information to a Global audience. Dena shares interesting topics with Foreign Professionals. Her audience is composed of Judges, lawyers, law students, translators and more…. She provides training seminars on the “ Language of the Law” around the World and also invites others to present.

Dena is a woman who believes in sharing knowledge and furthering education. “It is very satisfying to teach a new concept or idea” says Falken. Even if one of our students learns one new word or term, it can change the entire way they work. She believes that success is not about money but about passion. Dena Falken truly considers herself lucky that she found her passion early on in her career.

“Find a need and fill it” has been her mantra! She learned that from her wonderful father who later in his career became an entrepreneur himself. She sure has taken her Dads advice and is now helping people around the Globe.

Dena started her career in Milan, Italy after graduating with a JD degree in law from Catholic University, Columbus School of Law. She has a BA from American University in Washington D.C. She always knew that she wanted to do something in the International arena. While interning at a law firm in Milan, Italy…Dena saw the need. Although many lawyers spoke English, they did not speak Legal English. A language in and of itself. In other words, they did not speak or write the “Legal Talk”.

Opportunity knocked and Falken, opened the door.

Dena understood there was a need, but had to figure out how to begin. With some simple brochures left at lawyers offices, she began to market her Seminar. While it was not easy, the idea took off with a lot of hard work and effort, Eventually a full Seminar was formed. It turned out to be a wild success. Dena Falken soon expanded Legal-Ease International throughout Italy and it is now operated in Mexico, Europe, Central and South America, with courses online, leaving no city in the World out of reach. Legal-Ease International is now recognized as the World Leader in Legal English and has certainly earned that title. Thousands of Foreign Professionals have benefitted greatly and leave testimonials regarding the enormous benefit they received, and their appreciation. This is very satisfying says Falken.

Recently, I had an opportunity to meet Dena. Taking it as a great advantage to speak personally, I asked some questions that our business readers often ask:

Why do you think clients need to further their education?

Dena: We all need to grow, and never stop. In my field of legal English, one wrong word can change the entire meaning of a letter or document. Learning helps to keep one current and prepared. Our seminars at Legal-Ease International are a great way to network and gain a credential as a professional

You may be a professional in your field but you must learn how to express that in Legal English both spoken and written.

Dena Falken, Legal-Ease International

What are some of the tasks top business entrepreneurs do every day?

Dena: Marketing. The idea of the business is actually just a small part. How does one get the word out there? When I started Legal-Ease International, emailing and websites were not as popular as they are today. I did it by hand, made phone calls. Now of course the marketing is different, through social media sites etc. We must always look for new innovative ways to promote our ideas so that they reach those that need it.

What advice would you like to give to new entrepreneurs who want to be in the Seminar business.

Dena: Find something you love. If you love it, it does not feel like work. An entrepreneur works 24/7, 7 days a week. If it is something you love, you are merely expressing your passion and then it feels like pure joy. There are always obstacles in the way, but those obstacles and hardships foster creativity. Simply, love what you do. “Don’t let others convince you that the idea is bad when your gut tells you it is good. You will make it work if you believe in it.”

Printmaking in Mexico with Dena Falken and Takach Paper International

How did a Professional with a law degree become interested in Printmaking Paper?

Well, its a unique form of Art, and visiting Mexico and working here as often as I do with Legal-Ease International, it has become a passion of mine. As I love " language", Printmaking is a visual language that expresses politics, religion, beauty and history.

After visiting the The Museo Nacional de la Estampa (MUNAE), the national printmaking and graphic arts museum. in Mexico, one can only become even more interested in the Art of Printmaking.

Id like to share a bit... after all, Art, gives us a break and a gift for the Soul.

Mexico has the oldest printmaking tradition in Latin America.

Prints are understood as a visual art whose uniqueness lies in its reproducible character.

The first presses were established in Mexico in the around the 16th century mainly to print devotional images for various religious organizations.

Since the late 19th century, artists in Mexico have used printmaking as a tool for disseminating news, sharing political views and celebrating Mexico’s national culture. Throughout the 20th century, Mexican printmakers synthesized text and images in prints that documented the events of the Mexican Revolution, promoted leftist politics (including anti-imperialism) and, during World War II, warned Mexico’s citizens of the dangers of fascism.

In other prints, artists honored Mexico’s cultural traditions, from Day of the Dead to folk dances, often within the framework of the country’s post-revolutionary national identity. Inexpensive to make, reproduce and distribute, prints in Mexico have been a popular means for trying to shape public opinion.

Because of their ephemeral nature, few of these early impressions survived. With the introduction of lithography in Mexico in the nineteenth century, printmaking and publishing greatly expanded, and artists became recognized for the character of their work.

José Guadalupe Posada (1851–1913) is often regarded as the father of Mexican printmaking. His best-known prints are of skeletons (calaveras) published on brightly colored paper as broadsides that address topical issues and current events, love and romance, stories, popular songs, and other themes . A number of Posada’s prints relate to the Day of the Dead festivities. During this celebration, held every year on November 1–2, families make altars and leave offerings of food for the souls of the departed. Posada’s prints became something of a benchmark for artists who appreciated their immediacy. They were also easy and cheap to print, and could reach a wide audience.

Manuel Manilla (ca. 1830–ca. 1895)—a close contemporary of Posada—addressed very similar subjects, and works by the two artists are sometimes hard to distinguish from one another. Posada and Manilla demonstrate how effective prints were for creating a visual language that everyone could understand and enjoy. In the early twentieth century, their example had a profound impact on artists who, in response to the turbulent political climate and social unrest, were similarly eager to reach broad audiences.

The best-known artists in Mexico from the early decades of the twentieth century are Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco (1883–1949), and David Alfaro Siqueiros (1896–1974)—“Los tres grandes” (The Three Greats). They were all committed to politics but expressed their views through their art in very different ways. Of the three, Rivera—who returned to Mexico from Europe at the invitation of the government in 1921 to work on a mural project—rose to greatest prominence.

Rivera’s 1932 lithograph Emiliano Zapata and His Horse based on a detail from one of his murals at the Palace of Cortés Cuernavaca to the south of Mexico City, has become an iconic twentieth-century print. Zapata was a landowner-turned-revolutionary who formed and led the Liberation Army of the South. He embodied the aims of agrarian struggle that aspired to improve conditions for those who worked on the land. Zapata was assassinated in April 1919. Rivera’s print conflates different moments of oppression with optimistic emancipation.

The National Printmaking museum in Mexico is fascinating, and truly worth a visit. Printmaking is such a unique Art form, its very special to see these in person.

Dena Falken Esq- American Entrepreneur Making History

Dena Falken Esq- American Entrepreneur

Dena Falken Esq, an award winning influential women, who has transformed the way business is done. She is a successful woman, always competing with herself to provide better results for her clients.

Dena Falken is an American entrepreneur, operating a global business. She is the founder of Legal-Ease International®️– a company dedicated to teaching legal terminology, the Language of the law, to professionals.

Today we are excited to interview Dena Falken and share her business tips to our vast audience.  She has a vast knowledge about the business world and is frequently speaking at various events.

How to overcome imposter syndrome as an entrepreneur?

Dena Falken: When you are in business, there is always competition and you should recognize and prepare for it. There will be numerous obstacles but an entrepreneur should trust their services and be willing to work hard to make it more beneficial for their clients.

When I started Legal-Ease International ® ️, I had setbacks but mentally I made them a normal thing by building confidence in what I do and why I do it. This helped me to overcome every barrier and now my business is leading in the industry- providing service in Italy, Mexico, South and Central America and throughout Europe.

Believing in yourself is one of the keys to conquer imposter syndrome. The fear is always there but when we stop second guessing ourselves and make strategic decisions with proven results continuously, it will help to overcome imposter syndrome and lead to success.

Many of our readers have problems staying productive. Can you please give some tips?

Dena Falken: As an entrepreneur, there are many aspects of the business to look at every day. When I started my company, I mastered the skill to be productive so that I can complete more tasks every day without procrastinating.

Planning a day by creating a schedule. Being productive is more about knowing what you have to do and executing it without distractions.

The second thing is being fit mentally. As an entrepreneur, individuals need to understand that when our mental health is good, we can be creative and put more effort into our work. Numerous beginners often spend late nights working on their projects and the next day, they are tired and can’t focus. I advise the readers to also take care of themself by eating the right foods and exercising regularly to stay active and become productive.

For our readers, can you please share some advice for starting their own business?

Dena Falken: My first piece of advice will be knowing the demand and finding your passion. Many new entrepreneurs jump into starting a company because the thought of selling sounds profitable to them. This is a major mistake many aspiring entrepreneurs make.

Legal-Ease International®️ was founded because there were no companies that were teaching legal vocabulary to professionals at that time. Before investing my time to start the business, I did research whether the service was needed or not. I spoke to many professionals that I was already working with to get their opinion, to see if my services in Legal Language were needed or not. This helped me to prepare my mind and plan the business model to do the marketing and set up in a good location for easy accessibility. I had no capital at all, so there was no fear of losing money.

If possible visit the location of your potential customers and share with them the services you are offering. This will help you understand the demand and its urgency. Starting something that people don’t need is a serious mistake in entrepreneurship.

Always take care of your clients. The first couple of customers can help your business scale exponentially & get more recommendations, so you need to always take good care of your buyers.

Thank you so much for speaking with us today. It has been a while since we have tried to interview you.

My pleasure! I love your periodical and the work you do!

Dena Falken, Legal Ease International Harnessing the Power of Legal Language

Dena Falken, Legal Ease International Harnessing the Power of Legal Language

Language is one of the important aspects of our life. The way we talk, respond, or present ourselves impacts the result that we want to bring. Knowing a language is an easy part for many but articulating to make it sound better, impressive, and friendly is quite difficult to manage for many people.

Our world depends on the voice we share. When we use good vocabulary, we can make an impact in people's lives, whereas using harsh words can break friendships, relations, and business partnerships.

That is one of the key reasons Dena Falken founded Legal-Ease International. Knowing a language and knowing how to conduct business in the language is different. A basic level is better than nothing. It opens doors. Language is not merely a tool for communication, it’s an amazing instrument of connection, influence, and persuasion.

Dena through Legal-Ease International teaches people to conduct business and use legal language to thrive and be able to function at the highest level. When we have a rich vocabulary, we can invoke emotion, inspire, and leave lasting impressions by selecting words that resonate with the audience.

Language has always been a crucial means of communication and interaction. Those who are fluent in different languages are the ones who possess the power to dominate globally.

Language not only reflects and expresses facts it influences attitudes. It is a vital component of culture and society. Our words possess the power to shape destinies, illuminate minds, and bridge divides. By utilizing language to its fullest potential, we unlock a world of endless possibilities.

Dena Falken has always been a “wordsmith”. She is fluent in 4 languages which shows her true passion for enriching vocabulary and commitment to communication skills.

Dena Falken specializes in legal language. She is one of the pioneers in this field and has taught the language of law to thousands of people around the world. No language is more technical than the Language of the law. The law is made up of WORDS. Written or spoken words are the tool. In law, a word changes its entire meaning.

Dena Falken mentioned ”The Language of the law must be precise and leave no room for error of any sort. These errors can be costly and alter the terms completely.”

The need for Seminars on the Language of the law became apparent as various professionals were confused about the meaning of certain terms of when to use them. That is why Legal-Ease International, a language’ company was born to clarify the language of the law.
